Professional Development Packages

Working with young people at risk of social exclusion

This is a modular programme designed for any practitioner working with young people at risk. Practitioners may be from voluntary or charity organisations, the statutory sector, schools or colleges or youth or community workers.  It is available as an accredited course.

 

There are 11 modules, which can be undertaken singly or in combination. Training on each module will be between 1 and 3 days. The modules are:

  • Understanding and engaging with adolescent behaviour
  • Prevention, risk and group management
  • Serious incident and violence management
  • Working with young people and their significant others
  • Child Protection
  • Working with other agencies
  • Working with young people with learning difficulties
  • Inclusion and diversity
  • Mental health and working with specialists
  • Working with young people who offend
  • Using cognitive behaviour approaches
