International Professional Development Opportunities for
Teachers in England and Northern Ireland
The League for the Exchange of Commonwealth Teachers (LECT)
is interested in hearing from groups of educators wishing to
travel overseas to examine priority educational themes and
innovative approaches to key educational issues. Funding is
available for international professional development projects for
teachers in England and Northern Ireland.
Applicants must be prepared to show why an international visit is
necessary for their project and how being awarded a visit will make
a significant difference to achievement and attainment in their
schools.
Applications for GROUP Visits taking place in 2008 and 2009 are
invited from:
- Local Education Authorities
- School Clusters
- Professional and Subject Associations
- Groups of Practitioners from more than one school
- Education NGOs
Groups should consist of between five and 10 participants
and be able to travel between May 2008 and March 2009. There is no
funding available for supply cover, so travel must be undertaken
during holiday times unless additional funding has been secured to
fund necessary cover.
This programme is not open to individual teachers.
