Fast Track Teaching Professional Development
The Fast Track central support team designs and delivers a wide
range of leadership training and professional development
opportunities for Fast Track teachers. Over the last two years
alone, over 200 different short course sessions and 20 different
intensive residential training courses have been provided for Fast
Track Teaching. Many of the courses are unique to the programme,
and include cutting-edge training to support the development of
effective leadership behaviours and competencies. A key
professional development opportunity is the Wider School Focus,
which provides a link to, and the opportunity to apply for, the
National Professional Qualification for Headship. There are also
active regional e-communities on talk2learn, which are led by our
team of Lead Tutors.
In the academic year 2005–06 the programme delivered:
- 44 two- or three-day residential training courses for
approximately 1300 Fast Track teachers who were past their NQT
year;
- A major national professional development event for
approximately 400 Fast Track teachers who were in their NQT
year;
- 5,000 leadership development coaching sessions using the GROW
model;
- 4 induction events for Fast Track PGCE students;
- 18 one-day events including regional networking events and
training for 800 new School Mentors;
- e-learning activities and a regular Leadership Matters
e-bulletin.
