Key purpose

The key purpose of the PSHE Subject Association is to raise the status, quality and impact of PSHE.

 

Mission

The PSHE Subject Association is committed to helping teachers and other PSHE professionals to better plan, manage, deliver, evaluate and monitor PSHE provision, raising its status and quality and increasing its impact on, and relevance to, learners in the 21st century. To work closely with members, developing effective practice, representing views to government, other bodies and the media and influencing policy and perceptions of PSHE.

 

The association will provide:

  • access to current and developing PSHE knowledge and expertise
  • access to criteria for, and examples of, effective practice
  • regular PSHE updates, information and briefing sheets and other publications 
  • a website designed to support PSHE knowledge and skills
  • opportunities to network with other PSHE professionals – belong to a PSHE ‘community of practice’
  • opportunities to play an active part in developing and promoting PSHE teaching and learning for example through action research and by gaining access to and using results and analysis of research
  • a voice in national policy development
  • guidance on selecting PSHE resources, training courses etc. 
  • links with and learning from the PSHE CPD and Healthy Schools programmes

The association is made up of:

Three renumerated staff, assisted by an Interim Council and Chair. However, the PSHE Subject Association is also made up of our membership, primarily teaching professionals but also nurses, consultants, advisers, associated organisations and individuals. This is an organisation developed to meet the needs of PSHE professionals and so we welcome your guidance and feedback as we grow.
