The Design and Technology Association:
inspires, develops and supports excellence in design and technology
education for all.
The D&T Association is
the recognised professional association which represents all those
involved in design and technology education and associated subject
areas.
An educational charity
(registration number 1062270) The D&T Association's objective
is to "promote the advancement of education and in particular but
not exclusively to support, encourage, promote, develop and
maintain design and technological education in all its
branches". The D&T Association works with and for DCSF
and its various agencies providing a range of support for teachers
and other professionals working within design and technology. This
includes the publication of curriculum resources, a website,
providing continued professional development opportunities and
advice to members.
A Council of Management governs the
D&T Association, with its members elected on a three year
basis. The Council members act as directors of the company and have
a strategic responsibility for ensuring the D&T Association
meets its objectives and represents its members. The Council of
Management has one sub-committee which is the Finance and General
Purpose Committee. Other Advisory groups work to support the
specific areas of primary, secondary, special education needs (SEN)
and the interests of resource suppliers.
