Aspect is a highly influential and forward-looking professional association and trade union representing over 4,000 professionals in educational improvement and children’s services.

Aspect members are based throughout the UK and work across a broad range of sectors serving the interests of children and young people.  They are involved in providing support and advice to schools, colleges, local authorities and other organisations delivering key services to children.

Professional development

Aspect believes that professional development plays a key role in enhancing the capacity of professionals to provide an excellent service.  To this end Aspect is actively involved in providing good quality professional development activities for both members and non-members .  This year alone Aspect has launched an Edexcel-approved BTEC qualification in Education and Children’s Service Development and delivered a number of programmes for professionals working in the new integrated children’s services arena, both on a national and on a tailor-made basis.

Key achievements for 2007 include:

  • the roll out of an Edexcel-approved BTEC qualification in Education and Children’s Service Development.
  • Secured funding from the Union Learning Fund to support continuing professional development for educational improvement and children’s services professionals.
  • published a charter for modern professionalism in children’s services underlining the key values that professionals will need to work effectively together in the new integrated services arena.
