The Association for Citizenship Teaching (ACT) is the
professional subject association for those involved in citizenship
education. ACT came into existance in 2002 to further the aims of
Citizenship teaching and learning. ACT champions the teaching of
Citizenship to all young people and we offer direct support to
classroom practitioners. We connect our members to local and
regional networks and working in co operation with our partners,
including the DCSF and TDA represent, the subject at national
level.
Our main aim is the furtherance of mutual support, knowledge and
good practice, skills and resources for the teaching and learning
of Citizenship in schools and colleges. In order to do this we are
active as an organisation, producing a termly journal called
Teaching Citizenship, a monthly e-news and have a well resourced
web site (www.teachingcitizenship.org.uk)
