Regional Subject Advisers required
for PSHE education (economic wellbeing and financial capability)
subject support to all secondary schools for the implementation of
the new secondary curriculum
This is a chance to play your part in supporting the
introduction and implementation of the new secondary curriculum,
which will start with Key Stage 3 in September 2008. The PSHE
Association, working with CfBT Education Trust and nine other
subject teacher associations, has been contracted by the DCSF to
provide specific support for subject leadership in Personal,
Social, Health and Economic education (PSHE) for implementation of
the new secondary curriculum.
Working with and on behalf of the PSHE Association and using
your expertise in subject teaching, development and leading CPD you
will:
· deliver briefings / provide support to individual schools,
groups of schools or specific groups (e.g. local established
networks, ASTs) according to local need, working in collaboration
with local authority personnel who provide support to schools. This
support may be delivered in a whole day/part day/twilight format,
as locally determined;
· act as integral conduits of information from PSHE Association
office to the region and vice versa;
· collate examples of effective practice and ‘thinking about
next practice’ for sharing locally and nationally;
· contribute to the updating and review of subject-specific
support material (addressing economic wellbeing and financial
capability);
· lead in the dissemination of these materials and sharing of
practice with schools subject leaders in economic wellbeing and
financial capability at regional and local level;
· support the delivery of Regional Briefing Events for PSHE
education (economic wellbeing and financial capability);
· link with RSAs for PSHE education ( personal wellbeing), other
subject areas across the region, and with other regional colleagues
who have expertise in economic wellbeing and financial capability,
to provide coherent support to schools for PSHE education and links
across the curriculum.
This will be a flexible part-time role (with funding until 30th
March 2009) with an anticipated time commitment of 2 - 3 days per
month (or more) as agreed with the PSHE Association.
Payment for these monthly activities will be remunerated at the
DCSF-advised release costs for practicing teachers and local
authority advisers. The PSHE Association will also cover travel and
subsistence expenses.
