Lambeth Education Action Zone (EAZ) and City Learning
Centre (CLC)
A brief history of our work in
Lambeth
CfBT’s involvement with Lambeth council
dates back to 1998 to our original contract with the
CfBT/Lambeth Education Action Zone. This was one of the first EAZs
to be launched by the DfEE (now DfES).
The focus of our EAZ work since 2003 has
been in 3 main areas:-
- The development of arts education and a
creative curriculum
- Raising the achievement of underperforming groups
- Parental engagement and family learning
The latest contract renewal between CfBT and
Lambeth commenced September 2006 and will run until March 2008 but
this time it is with the addition of the Lambeth City Learning
Centre (CLC). The CLC provides state-of-the art ICT-based learning
opportunities for Lambeth pupils, parents and school staff.
CLCs aim to;
- Improve access to the latest education technology for pupils,
teachers and the community working with pupils from nursery age to
18.
- Increase attainment levels through the use of ICT
- Improve quality of teaching and learning
- Act as a test bed for innovative and new ways of working
