School Improvement
CfBT Education Trust recognises that school improvement needs to
be regarded as an ongoing commitment for a school, if it is to
support its development and sustain high standards.
CfBT school improvement both in the UK and globally is committed to
supporting the education of students and the pursuit of lifelong
learning.
In providing support for international schools, we seek to work
with a school to support and encourage the development of a
distinct improvement process, which can be planned as a cycle and
accommodated in accordance with both need and circumstances.
CfBT recognises that effective school self-evaluation whether
included as a part of a school review, an external inspection or
within the accreditation process, offers an important element of
understanding for a school, which will provide a basis for future
school improvement. By building on the process of external and
internal review a school can identify and take ownership of the
areas needing to be addressed.
By informing a school of its strengths and weaknesses it is
possible to offer informed support, building on the positive,
whilst seeking also to find ways to address areas needing
improvement. To that end CfBT works closely with a school
reflecting on international good practice and effective standards
that relate to an agreed framework and a cycle of improvement,
which will assist with the overall development and improvement of
that school.
Wherever possible we work with a school to establish its priorities
for improvement based on its most recent evaluation and then
identify the level and kind of support needed. Within this process
we recognise that learners and learning are at the heart of
everything that we do in education.
CfBT support for school improvement offers quality assurance and
internationally recognised standards in the following areas
- Strategic planning
- School design
- Professional development (CPD)
CfBT provides high quality professional development for school
leaders, managers, teachers and governors for schools across the
full age range. The identification of professional development
priorities is a natural outcome of the process of evaluation,
review and inspection. Once a school understands its strengths and
weaknesses, it can then map out a way to work towards school
improvement.
CfBT recognises that effective continuing professional development
raises standards in schools and is the key to sustaining change. It
is important then for any school to ensure that CPD is a feature of
the overall development plan, which is evaluated at the end of each
cycle.
CfBT can work with your school to:
- Develop its vision and strategic direction
- Raise standards and achievements for students of all
abilities
- Enable and ensure high quality learning and teaching
- Improve the leadership, management and efficiency of the
