Guyana (1998-2003) Guyana Education Access Project (GEAP) (DFID)

The project aimed to achieve a sustainable improvement in education quality and access for all children in Guyana, particularly the poorest, by improving the system of secondary education in two disadvantaged regions, Corriverton and Linden, for eventual replication nationally. This involved a significant programme of school construction, rehabilitation and equipment, training for teachers, headteachers, trainers and inspectors, greater community participation in schools, and improved education management at school, regional and central level.

Somalia (2003-2007) Strengthening Teacher Education in the Public Sector (Danida)

Professional support, trainer training, physical upgrading to buildings and provision of books to Amoud University (Somaliland) for the delivery of a secondary teacher training programme for teachers from Somaliland and Puntland. The project has also provided financial support to trainees and will provide in-service refresher training for graduates of the programme.

Libya, Eltex 2008

CfBT Education Trust will be exhibiting and presenting at Eltex 2008 Libya, February 12 – 14 2008. Robin Attfield, CFBT Consultant, will be presenting a plenary session entitled “Skills Training and Lifelong Learning” during the conference.

Focussing on British – Libyan co-operation in the fields of education, vocational and English Language Teaching and sharing knowledge and skills of British and Libyan teaching professionals and training managers, Eltex is an established event organised by the British Council and UK Trade and Investment in partnership with WAHA Expo, Libya and AME Trade Ltd. UK.

CfBT Education Trust will be opening an office in Libya in February.
