The new Skills for Life Improvement Programme, delivered throughout England and Wales by CfBT Education Trust on behalf of the Quality Improvement Agency (QIA), aims to build on the work of previous Skills for Life programmes and initiatives by supporting individuals and organisations working in all post-16 learning settings through:

  • professional development of the staff at all levels
  • supporting the implementation of a whole organisation approach to Skills for Life learning
  • promoting and supporting innovative teaching and learning
  • developing and transferring effective practice

Professional development
The Skills for Life Improvement Programme offers opportunities for staff at all levels, in all learning settings, to gain professional qualifications and continue to develop thinking, skills and practice.

A whole organisation approach to quality improvement
The Skills for Life Improvement Programme offers opportunities for the supported use of tried and tested quality improvement tools and techniques to implement a whole organisation approach to improving literacy, numeracy and language for all learners.

Innovation in teaching and learning
The Skills for Life Improvement Programme offers opportunities to engage in a range of activities designed to refresh, strengthen and share effective practice to ensure learners engage, progress and achieve.
