Global (2006) Research on Predictable Financing and the Funding
of Basic Service Delivery Systems (Save the Children UK)
CfBT was contracted to undertake desk-based analytical research
looking at aid predictability in developing countries in the
context of those countries needing greater volumes of more
predictable aid to achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
Detailed data analysis was undertaken, and recommendations offered
for how donors can provide longer-term, more predictable and
sustainable aid.
Regional (2005) Research on the Impact of the IMF’s
Macroeconomic Lending Programmes on Education Spending and Outcomes
in Ethiopia and Mongolia (Save the Children UK)
CfBT was contracted to undertake desk-based research looking at
the impact of the macroeconomic targets of International Monetary
Fund (IMF) lending programmes on education spending and outcomes in
Ethiopia and Mongolia. It specifically explored what connection
there was between public sector wage ceilings, teacher recruitment
and salary levels as well as looking at whether fiscal deficit
targets impacted negatively on educational spending.
Regional (2002) Upgrading Textbook Distribution in Africa
(ADEA)
This project required detailed analysis for the research and
publication of 8 major and 5 minor case studies from different
African countries (Anglophone and Francophone) on all aspects of
textbook financing policies and textbook distribution options,
offering best practice recommendations.
Regional (2000) Financing Textbooks and Teacher Training
Materials in Africa (ADEA)
IBD was selected to write the introductory essay for this ADEA
publication.
Regional (1991) African Textbook Study (World Bank)
This support involved detailed textbook sector studies of
Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Ghana, Tanzania, Lesotho, Angola, Burkina
Faso, Burundi and Senegal and the writing of a major report on all
aspects of curriculum and textbook provision in Africa, which was
used as the core conference paper at the African Ministers of
Education conference in Manchester.
