STAFF JUMP INTO THEIR JEANS WITH ROYALS CAPTAIN!

Staff from local education charity, CfBT Education Trust, will be jumping into their jeans with Royals reserve goalkeeper Mikkel Anderson on Friday (October 5) raising money for children with genetic disorders.

This is the 7th year that CfBT has supported the nationwide Jeans for Genes campaign, raising more than £2,000 in total for children and young people born with genetic disorders, and this year staff are delighted Mikkel is joining the fundraising efforts.

Staff will be raising money simply by wearing their jeans to work and donating £2 to the Jeans for Genes charity. Mikkel, Royals reserve goalkeeper, who joined Reading from AB Copenhagen in January 2007, will be joining staff to show his support.

In the UK, one baby in every 33 is born with a genetic disorder or birth defect – that’s one born every 30 minutes whose life could be affected. So far, Jeans for Genes has raised more than £27million to support pioneering research projects and provide valuable support services for affected children and their families across the country.

The charity’s aim is to raise £3million this year and proceeds will help seven national charities, including Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity, the National Deaf Children’s Society and the Sickle Cell Society.

Joanne Smithson, CfBT's Planning & Corporate Services Director, said: “CfBT Education Trust has supported the Jeans for Genes campaign for a number of years. It is an easy way to raise money for this worthwhile cause and we are extremely pleased to be working along side Reading FC this year and hope to raise even more!”
