EMPLOYERS IN WEST LONDON GET HELPING HAND TO RECRUIT LOCAL YOUNG PEOPLE

Employers in West London can now benefit from a free service aimed at helping them recruit young people in the local area through the advice and guidance service Connexions.

Catherine Beaujean, Lead Employment & Training Adviser at CfBT Education Trust, which delivers the Connexions service, said: “We offer a complete service to a potential employer. We visit their premises, advise them on accredited training and find suitable candidates for the job. We also advise on all issues related to employing young people such as working hours and pay. The service is not only free to employers it also enables them to help a young person get a good start in their working life."

The service also allows local employers to advertise their vacancies across London and neighbouring areas on the Connexions LOIS jobs database accessible at www.wayahead-careers.co.uk. It is available all year round but is particularly successful in the summer when employers are able to promote their job vacancies to young people leaving school and colleges.

“We have many enthusiastic young people enrolled on our service”, said Catherine, “but there is high demand in particular for jobs and apprenticeships in construction, engineering, IT, admin and childcare."

Employers in West London can also contact the Connexions Employment team for a free booklet entitled Your Guide to Employing a Young Person which provides in-depth information and advice.

For more information, to advertise a vacancy with the free service or to obtain a copy of Your Guide to Employing a Young Person please ring the vacancy team on 020 8231 6900 or email westvac@cfbt.com
