CfBT EDUCATION TRUST WINS MORE CONNEXIONS CONTRACTS

CfBT Education Trust today (December 18) announces it been awarded a new contract to deliver Connexions services across the south London boroughs of Croydon, Bromley, Kingston, Merton, Richmond and Sutton, bringing the total number of areas in which it delivers Connexions contracts in London to 10.

The leading education charity, which has a national Connexions portfolio, will commence delivery of the Connexions services in south London from April 2008. It currently already delivers the service in Richmond.

Connexions offers information, advice and guidance to all young people aged 13-19. The primary objective of CfBT Education Trust’s contract is to reduce the number of young people not in education, employment or training (NEET) by helping them make informed choices about their futures. The service provides personal support on areas such as careers, training, health, housing and financial advice.

The charity’s written proposal demonstrated its ability to continuously involve young people in shaping the service and outlined its commitment to providing young people with the advice and support they deserve. CfBT was commended by the selection panel for its energetic and localised approach to delivering Connexions services, and particularly for working innovatively with local schools and colleges.

Margaret Abbott, CfBT’s UK Services Director, said: “I am delighted by the award of this new contract to CfBT. As an organisation we have a proven track record in delivering Connexions services that are carefully tailored to meet the individual needs of young people. Our staff work hard to ensure that young people are involved in every aspect of the guidance progress so that they can get the most out of Connexions and achieve their goals in life”.

Linda Taylor, Chief Executive at Connexions South London, added: “CfBT’s unique approach to delivering information, advice and guidance promises to offer the young people in these boroughs a comprehensive service that they need. During the tender process we were impressed with CfBT’s ability to explain the impact of the initiatives they have delivered for Connexions in other areas, and we look forward to seeing such a fresh approach implemented for young people in South London”.
