Release: Immediate
CFBT ADDS HOUNSLOW TO CONNEXIONS
CONTRACTS
Leading education charity CfBT Education Trust has retained its
contract to deliver Connexions services in the London Borough of
Hounslow – taking its total Connexions contracts in the capital to
ten.
Following a rigorous tendering process the Council chose to
contract CfBT to deliver information, advice and guidance to young
people through Personal Advisors in schools and colleges across the
Borough for a further three years. CfBT has been delivering the
Connexions service in the Borough since 2002 and previously managed
the careers services since 1996.
Together with contracts in Ealing, Hammersmith and Fulham,
Hillingdon and the south London boroughs of Bromley, Croydon,
Kingston, Merton, Richmond and Sutton, Hounslow makes ten
Connexions contracts managed on behalf of London local authorities
by CfBT Education Trust.
Joanna van de Poll, Head of Connexions for CfBT, said: “Hounslow
liked our passion and enthusiasm and the examples of how our
Personal Advisers work to put the needs of young people first. Our
extensive knowledge and understanding of the Borough and the needs
of its young people stood us in good stead and I am delighted we
shall continue to deliver Connexions services across the
Borough.”
Colin Peak, Assistant Director for Young People and Community
Learning in the London Borough of Hounslow, added: “We have been
impressed with CfBT’s unique and comprehensive approach to
delivering information, advice and guidance in the Borough. We have
seen the impact of what they deliver and look forward to working
with them over the next three years to develop and implement the
service for the benefit of the Borough’s young people.”
CfBT’s objective for its Connexions services is to reduce the
number of young people not in education, employment or training
(NEET) by helping them to make informed choices about their
futures. This is achieved by continuously involving young people in
shaping their service. Examples include: working innovatively with
local schools and colleges to develop youth interview panels for
new personal advisers, youth panels to advise on a wide range of
issues from refurbishment to bidding for funds and focus groups for
consultation on developments such as newsletters and websites.
