Role of the Link Governor in Lincolnshire and Rutland

The Link Governor should play a very important role in
supporting the work of the Governing Body. Good practice suggests
that Link Governors should be elected at the start of each
Governing Body Year in a similar way to most Chairs and Vice
Chairs. Effective Link Governors make a significant contribution to
the good health of a Governing Body.
An outline of some of the key roles of the Link Governor
include;
- Provides leadership in organising support and training for the
Governing Body
- Ensures that the Governing Body welcomes and inducts new
governors
- Ensures the Governing Body allocates sufficient money to
training and development
- Provides advice to individual governors on their particular
training needs
- Encourages governors to voice their training needs and attend
training and development opportunities
- Acts as a link with Governor Support and Development and
communicates the needs of governors
- Maintains a record of attendance of governors of training and
development activities undertaken
- Discusses the and effectiveness of any training and development
undertaken and disseminates that information appropriately
The Governor Support and Development Service is committed to
promoting the role of the Link Governor within Lincolnshire and
Rutland and will provide every support to develop and enhance that
role. It is hoped that the website will help to support the work of
the Link Governor by keeping them very informed about relevant
educational developments and training and development
opportunities.
Any suggestions of the particular needs of the Link Governor
will be welcomed through the Governor Helpline on 01522 553240
