Clerk to Governor Vacancies

We are often contacted by Governing Bodies who are having difficulty in filling a vacancy for a Clerk to Governors. Iif you are interestd in Clerking an additional Governing Body, please contact Governor Helpline (01522 553240)

Associate Members

Associate Members are not elected or appointed Governors, but are people appointed by the Governing Body as a member of one or more of the Governing Body's committees.  The Governing Body must determine the period of office on appointment.  Associate Members are not counted in the quorum of the full Governing Body and cannot form the majority on any committees to which they are appointed.  They can be re-appointed for further terms .

The Governing Body must determine what voting rights Associate Members will be given on appointment.  Associate Members cannot be given voting rights if they have not reached the age of 18 at the time of their election.

Associate Members cannot vote on any resolution concerning:

 - Admissions

 - Pupil Discipline

 - Election or appointment of Governors

 - The budget and financial commitments of the Governing Body 

Associate Members can be removed from office by the Governing Body at any time.  Any person who is disqualified from holding office as a Governor is also disqualified from appointment as an Associate Member.
