Ontarget@LincolnCity
Ontarget@LincolnCity is the Playing for
Success Study Support Centre based at Lincoln City Football Club.
It is one of two Playing for Success Centres in Lincolnshire.
Playing for Success is a national initiative
and has over 150 centres at sporting venues across the country.
Each centre is very individual but they all aim to work with young
people aged 9 –14 years old to help motivate them to make better
progress at school. The centre helps young people develop greater
self esteem and confidence in their ability to learn, whilst
developing literacy, numeracy and ICT skills.
Ontarget@LincolnCity is located in the Co-op
Community Stand at Sincil Bank. It has a large open plan learning
space with a suite of 13 computers and a separate suite of Macs, an
interactive whiteboard and digital cameras. There is also a chill
out zone and other work areas. The centre opened in September 2006
and two local schools took part in the Playing for Success Pilot,
these were Bishop King Primary School and Joseph Ruston Technology
College. Full details of the pilot can be found on the Pilot
evaluation. Since the pilot several other Lincoln Primary and
Secondary schools have participated in the programme and found it
to be very beneficial for their pupils.
