This area covers the development of the wider children's
workforce focusing particularly on the activities of the CWDC (The
Children's Workforce Developlment Council). The School
Improvement Service are playing an increasing part in this work
particularly through Lucy Wood who has a specific responsibility in
this area. Lucy has been instrumental in developing training
packages and other support. This area provides details of the
work training and support materials.

Lucy is a School Improvement Consultant for Children's Workforce
Development. Her role is to provide training, information, support
and guidance for pastoral and behavioural support staff including,
learning mentors and BIP (Behaviour Improvement Programme) mentors
within schools in Lincolnshire. Lucy is also involved in
developing integrated working within the Children's Workforce and
the Integrated Qualifications Framework.
Lucy worked within the field of mentoring for over six years within
Bradford LEA, Oldham LEA and was the Mentor Co-ordinator in
Lincolnshire for three years. Lucy has conducted a large
amount of research around mentoring in schools which cumulated in a
MEd.
Previous to this, Lucy taught in Japanese primary schools and
junior high schools for two years. Lucy also worked as an
instructor at an Environmental Education Centre in Georgia, USA
where she taught outdoor pursuits, environmental education and
teambuilding to vulnerable young people.
