Secondary Education

The core purpose of the Secondary School Improvement Team is to work in partnership with schools to raise standards of achievement for all students in our secondary schools.
During 2005/6 this will be done within the context of the national roll-out of the ‘New Relationship with Schools’ which will involve all Lincolnshire Secondary schools from September 2005. Monitoring, challenge and support is delivered through a strategically planned and delivered School Improvement Partner (SIP) programme, working within the new regional SIP structure.
Consultancy support is delivered through the Secondary Strategy Team and our aim this year is to refocus on key strategies related to effective teaching and learning through the development of a Teaching and Learning toolkit. Wherever possible, consultancy support is planned to foster collaboration between schools.
The Government’s 14-19 proposals frame our work on curriculum planning and support for schools will include the opportunity to develop innovative approaches to the curriculum at Key Stage 3.
Liaison and collaborative work with the LSC through the development and implementation of the 14-19 Learner Entitlement and associated Leaders Programme

The monitoring of LiG collaborative and Excellence Cluster programmes including the Behaviour Improvement Programme (BIP) will be a major focus in Year 3 of these initiatives.

In addition to the specific programmes outlined above, the service will continue to support schools with Specialist College bids/redesignation and any other new initiatives/ projects focused on raising achievement.
