Welcome to the site for Religious
Education
I hope this site will provide effective support for all teachers
of RE in Lincolnshire. I have been working with schools in
Lincolnshire since September 2007 and providing SACRE with an
overview of what is going on in RE. The site will provide the
opportunity to maintain links with the schools I have visited but
also make contact with those of you I haven’t met. I will be
providing regular local and national updates, news from the
Lincolnshire SACRE, information about the latest resources and an
‘RE in the news’ section. There will also be an area where teachers
can share ideas and good practice and a virtual network group. If
you have any suggestions about what you would like to see included
on the site, or just want to discuss anything to do with RE, my
contact details are:

as offering training and support. |
Circular 1/94 - Good News, this out of date guidance is being
reviewed and is soon to be replaced, though no date has been given
as yet. The review will concentrate on RE and guidance on acts of
collective workship will follow later.
Pedagogy in RE - This year This year QCA will work with Ofsted
and other bodies to focus on pedagogical issues in RE. The material
for this debate comes from several sources: the Ofsted report
(Making Sense of Religion, 2007); Mary Hayward’s report
for Warwick University (The Teaching of Christianity at KS3,
2007); the RE Council’s commission report (2007); and the work
of more than 30 regional support advisers to provide training on RE
in the new secondary curriculum.

RE in the media
The Apprentice – you may have had the toe curling experience of
watching a group of business ‘tycoons’ humiliate themselves as they
showed their total lack of understanding of the terms ‘kosher’ and
‘halal.’ Secondary RE teachers have reported to me how this
proved to be a useful teaching aid, especially to address the ‘why
do we have to do RE?’ issue.
