Introduction
The programme for
school leaders in Lincolnshire is designed to support the
growth of leadership capacity across the authority. The core
purpose of the programme is to ensure sustainable leadership
capacity in the County. The programme will focus on leadership
development through school based activities supported through a
series of workshops provided by CfBT.
The aim of the programme is to provide learning and developmental
opportunities that will:
Develop the personal qualities, knowledge and skills needed for
successful school leadership.
Lay the foundations for long term leadership effectiveness.
Support personal and professional career aspirations.
Develop leadership capacity for Lincolnshire schools
Structure
The programme is designed to offer a long-term, systematic and
integrated approach to leadership development. The programme
will be made up of the following learning and developmental
strategies:
A series of six one-day workshops and five twilight sessions;
The development and support of action learning sets/communities of
practice to focus on specific projects;
A systematic programme of intervisitation using a critical
friendship model;
Access to system leaders;
Opportunities to interact with school leaders from other
LEAs;
Access to guided reading/research;
International perspectives;
Working with reference groups.
The programme will model effective leadership learning and
development. Participants will be expected to accept responsibility
for their own learning through collaborative and critical thinking
focused on action.
The learning strategies to be used on the programme will
include:
Appreciative enquiry;
Collaborative problem solving;
Knowledge creation through the interaction of theory and
practice;
Structured and supported reflection through the use of a learning
journal;
Project based learning;
Scenario building.
