Education other than at school: a way forward for Gypsy
Travellers (2006)
This study explores current provision of education for
Traveller’s children, and how Traveller’s interpret ‘Elective Home
Education’ (EHE). The research documents Gypsy and Irish
Travellers' rationales for withdrawing children from formal
schooling and investigates what alternative models of education
they put in place. It also analyses LEA responses to this education
provision, in terms of support, inspection and quality assurance;
and how schools address issues relating to the inclusion, retention
and achievement of Gypsy and Irish Traveller pupils.

move forward.

Community Based Organisations: Primary School Study in
Kenya (2004)
This project explores the potential for schools to work
effectively with their communities, in a broader development role.
The project developed from CfBT’s HIV/AIDS education intervention
in Kenyan primary schools, Primary School Action for Better Health
(PSABH), which highlighted that the effects of HIV cannot be
successfully addressed without a collaborative approach that can
access the maximum resources available to that school and its
community.
Co-operation and Learning (2003)

enterprise between a wider range of stakeholder groups in
developing new solutions and models of education service delivery.
In particular this report draws upon international experience to
demonstrate the benefits that derive from the direct involvement in
governance of schools of a range of stakeholders and their success
in developing a vocationally-based curriculum.
