Useful Information for HLTAs
This page contains information for staff who have already
achieved the HLTA status, and their schools.
Achievement of the HLTA status provides nationally recognised
assurance that you are working to a high level against a national
set of standards, which are closely aligned to the Qualified
Teacher Status (QTS) standards.
Having achieved the HLTA status, staff are able to apply
for and be appointed to HLTA roles as they become
available. It is on appointment to an HLTA role that staff
attract the HLTA pay; achievement of the status does not of
itself result in a change in job role or increase in pay. An
increasing number of schools have appointed HLTAs with great
benefits for their teachers, pupils and whole school.
Deployment and Impact of HLTAs; national research
National research commissioned by the Training and Development
Agency (TDA) between August 2006 and August 2007 revealed a very
positive picture in relation to the impact HLTAs are having
within education. It also draws attention to some initial
challenges which will be helpful in moving the programme
forward.

the county; to hear about the local context for HLTA; hear
presentations on topics of interest to HLTAs; and share good
