The Secondary English Team
Sue Taylor taught in secondary schools or Adult Basic Education
(Literacy and ESOL) for over thirty years. She has experience in a
range of roles including SEN management and senior leadership, as
well as advisor and consultant. She has a particular interest in
learning support and other intervention. To contact her, email

Ken Haworth taught in comprehensive schools in Hampshire and
West Sussex, leading two English Departments over a period of 18
years, before working for two years as an Assistant Head in
Nottinghamshire and as a Secondary English Consultant with West
Sussex (both at the same time!). Ken is also an experienced KS3 and

Jane Branson taught in East Sussex for 12 years and has
experience as both Subject Leader and Advanced Skills Teacher. She
has been a NATE committee member and has contributed to a number of
initiatives and publications. Jane has a particular interest in
using ICT to enhance teaching and learning in English. To contact

Consultant Support includes:
- using data to identify, plan for and support
underperforming pupils and to accelerate the progress of non-moving
and slow-moving pupils;
- strengthening departmental systems of audit, planning,
curriculum development and evaluation;
- developing teaching and learning skills in English;
- strengthening transfer and transition;
- planning for progression at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4;
- planning and teaching effective test and examination revision
and booster support.
