Secondary English
This year support from the English strand of the Strategy will
focus on:
- Introducing materials for Assessing Pupils’ Progress
- Improving the teaching of Shakespeare at Key Stage 3
- Raising standards of teaching and learning at Key Stage 4
- Improving the progress of low-attaining pupils
- Developing the use of IT to enhance teaching and learning
We will be providing training and in-school support on all of
these issues, and more. For further details about training courses,

for debate on a range of current topics as well as information
about local events for English teachers. This is a new and
developing online discussion area where East Sussex English
teachers can share and compare ideas, passions and solutions. For
