Armenia (2005-2007) Training of Members of Subject Syllabi
Developing Working Groups and Assisting them in the Development of
Subject Syllabi (World Bank)
This is a programme of Technical Assistance to support the
reform of the curriculum by assisting national working groups. The
CfBT team is assisting the local working groups in the revision of
the syllabi for maths, the sciences, geography, English and the
local language.
Bulgaria (2006 on-going) Support to Develop a Methodology for a
Cost-Benefit Analysis of Inclusive Education in Bulgaria (Save the
Children UK)
CfBT is in the process of supporting the Save the Children
Bulgarian office and in-country team of consultants in designing a
methodology for a comparative study on the costs and benefits of
inclusive versus exclusive education in Bulgaria.
Cambodia (2004-2008) Targeted EC Support to Pro-Poor Basic
Education Reforms in Cambodia: Institutional Support and Technical
Assistance (EU)
The aim of this programme of technical assistance is to
facilitate the management of the EC targeted budget support within
the rolling Education Sector Strategic Planning (ESSP) process
whilst contributing to the on-going development of
inter-ministerial and donor partnerships and building the capacity
of the Ministry of Education to implement the ESSP in a prioritised
manner in line with the Education for All National Plan.
Kenya (2005 on-going) Technical Support to the Expansion of the
Post-Primary Education Sector (DFID)
This assistance has involved inputs such as assessing the
constraints to expanding non-state participation by accredited
private providers; evaluating possible approaches to promoting
growth in non-state provision and the implications of such
approaches for equity and for unit costs; and making
recommendations as to how an overall support scheme or package of
schemes could be managed.
Macedonia (2005-2008) Education Modernisation Project:
Technical Assistance for School Planning, Monitoring,
Evaluation and School Improvement Grants
The aim of this programme of Technical Assistance is to support
the introduction of school planning and to raise the standards of
teaching and learning by operating a system of school improvement
grants. The focus is on: whole school professional development,
teaching aids, developing strategies for increasing attendance and
completion rates, reducing inequalities between genders and ethnic
communities, supporting initiatives with parents and the community,
school networking (‘cluster development’) and support to other
schools, establishing School Improvement Action Groups (SIAG), and
putting in place a monitoring and evaluation system to ensure the
system is effective.
Namibia (2005-2007) Long-Term Technical Assistance for Advisory
Support to HIV and AIDS Management Unit (HAMU) of the Education
Sector (EU)
The consultant's focus is the provision of technical and
managerial advice to develop and strengthen the institutional and
management capacity of the Ministry of Education's HIV and AIDS
Management Unit (HAMU) in order to enable it to fulfil its
objectives effectively and efficiently. The consultant is
developing and coordinating relevant policies and programmes;
ensuring that monitoring and evaluation systems are in place for
all HAMU activities and identifying capacity building needs.
Somalia (2006-2008) Support to Improved Education Programme,
Somaliland (Danida)
The overall objective of the programme is to enhance government
capacity for education sector development and coordination. The
programme focuses on the areas of policy and planning, sector
financing, partnership and longer-term capacity planning, and has
separate components which are strengthening Ministry involvement in
primary education for disadvantaged groups and in secondary teacher
education.
Somalia (2003-2007) Strengthening Teacher Education in the
Public Sector (Danida)
Professional support, trainer training, physical upgrading to
buildings and provision of books to Amoud University (Somaliland)
for the delivery of a secondary teacher training programme for
teachers from Somaliland and Puntland. The project has also
provided financial support to trainees and will provide in-service
refresher training for graduates of the programme.
