The conference in 2009 will be held mainly within New College, Oxford with plenary sessions at the lecture theatre of the Oxford University Museum of Natural History, a short walk from New College. Delegates who have previously attended the UKFIET conference should note that this is a change from the previous conference venue.

Delegates should be aware that New College is made up of many old buildings dating back to the 1800s. Whilst every effort has been made by the college to ensure that meeting rooms are as accessible as possible, due to the age and structure of the buildings it has not always been possible to provide the accessibility facilities that modern buildings enjoy.

The Oxford University Museum lecture theatre is fully accessible.

The conference manager and organising committee urge any delegate who may have difficulty with steps or stairs to discuss this in advance, so that, as far as possible, full conference participation can be achieved.

Travel Arrangements

Arriving by Train:

There are frequent trains from London Paddington to Oxford. The station is approximately 20 minutes walk from the New College and the University of Oxford Museum, the cost of a taxi from the Railway station to the conference venues is approximately £5.00.

Arriving by Bus from the Airports:

There is a frequent, fast bus service from the airports to Oxford, these stop in the High Street. Airport bus information may be accessed at www.oxfordbus.co.uk  Use the Queens Lane stop.

Arriving by Bus from locations other than airports:

Bus links from London and other cities terminate at Gloucester Green Bus Station in Oxford. The Bus station is approximately 20 minutes walk from the conference venues, the cost of a taxi is approximately £5.00.

Please note that there is no car parking available either at the New College or the University of Oxford Museum; City car parks are expensive and we therefore recommend public transport wherever possible.

Accommodation at New College £70.00 per person per night including dinner and breakfast.
Alternative accommodation is available.

Coffee, Tea and Lunch will be served at New College.All refreshments and lunch are included in the conference fee.

Weather

The weather in September can be quite changeable with average daytime temperatures 15°C, although it can be considerably higher or lower than this figure. We recommend that you should bring suitable clothing for cooler days and evenings and an umbrella.
