Nursery News..
What a busy term the autumn term has been at
the nursery, I’m not sure where to begin.
We believe that working in partnership with
the parents is a fundamental part of a successful nursery education
and in September we had our first parent information evening about
the New Early Years Foundation Stage, which we are phasing in over
this academic year. The evening was well attended and parents
got to have a go at some of the activities the children do daily,
more information evenings will be planned over the coming year.
With the changes to the timetable and the free
flow access of the nursery the children now have, they enjoyed the
unusually warm weather and the coming of autumn in the fantastic
garden. Some of the activities included large scale firework
painting using the bikes and scooters; it was very messy but lots
of fun.
At the end of October we had a wonderful
Halloween party with both the staff and children dressing up. In
November we celebrated Diwali and made some tasty sweets and candle
holders, then came a noisy fireworks night.
December was taken up with practising for the
carol concert and getting reading for some VIP visitors. The Carol
concert was charming and got us all ready for the festive season,
the children were very brave and gave there all. Some of the
children are only just two years old but they sat and sang their
hearts out. We were very proud of them all.
The Christmas parties were very hectic and the
children enjoyed the visits from Retigla the clown and Father
Christmas.
The staff team have attended many training
courses this term including H&S, First aid and also Social and
Emotional training to support the children. Miss Shepherd the
support manager begins her Special Needs Level 3 training this
coming term and we wish her every success with this new
qualification.
It’s only left for me to wish you all a very
happy New Year and I look forward to a busy and enjoyable spring
term.
