Nursery News..

The past few weeks have been really enjoyable at nursery with all the children and staff taking part in celebrations for Christmas. It's always a real treat for us to have the children to remind us of what Christmas is all about. Trees, baubles, tinsel and lights adorn each room and home made pictures and cards make everywhere look so bright and cheerful.

The pre-school children delighted their families and friends with a seasonal play called Whoops-a-Daisy Angel performed over two afternoons in mid-December. They did so well and used sign language during all of the songs with the expert guidance of Jenny, one of our pre-school staff who teaches this on a regular basis throughout the year. It was a wonderful achievement when you think that the oldest participants are only just four years old, with many only being three!

Christmas parties were held in each room and a visit from Father Christmas concluded the week's activities. Some children loved him, whilst others weren't quite so sure. The toddlers dressed up in fancy dress for their party and party games were introduced with staff enjoying them nearly as much as the children!

As I write this on Christmas Eve, looking back you realise how much time and effort everyone has given throughout the month of December to ensure that we all enjoy this season together.

Just a few other little matters - the money raised for Children in Need was forwarded, the building repairs have been completed to the verandah and the cellar area and new computers have arrived in the administration office. Staff members attended training on special needs and EYFS that has been useful to us all and we hosted a day's group training event regarding business continuity.

Looking forward to the New Year, the diary for January looks like being a very busy time with a quality assurance review, an internal audit and inspection being undertaken and managers will be meeting together to attend a two-day health and safety course. We will be getting together with staff on a regular basis to evaluate our practices and what we wish to achieve in 2008.
